About
Infrastructure engineers, building for infrastructure engineers
APIFlow Systems was founded in 2018 in Covent Garden, London, on a simple premise: API infrastructure should be boring, fast and explainable. Today our platform routes 48 billion requests a month for banks, broadcasters, retailers and the public sector.
Our Story
Born from 3 a.m. pager duty
Our founders spent a decade operating payment and media platforms where every outage traced back to the same place: the unmanaged gap between the internet and the services. Gateways were either toy reverse proxies or opaque appliances nobody dared reconfigure.
APIFlow is the platform we wished we had on those nights — a gateway fleet you can reason about, a control plane that behaves like code, and observability that answers "what happened?" in one query.
We remain independent, profitable and deliberately focused: API infrastructure is the whole company, not a product line.
Values
What we optimise for
Boring where it counts
The request path is deliberately unexciting: proven primitives, no exotic dependencies, everything explainable at 3 a.m.
Engineers answer questions
No tier-1 scripts. When you talk to us, you talk to the people who build and run the platform.
Transparent by default
Published pricing, public status history, honest incident reports and a sub-processor list we update before you ask.
Built for the reviewer
Every feature ships with the artefacts your security and compliance teams need to say yes.
Milestones
From three engineers to 48 billion calls
- 2018
Founded in London by three infrastructure engineers frustrated with API gateways that were either too simple or unmanageable.
- 2019
First gateway fleet in production: UK and EU edges, sub-5 ms added latency, first ten design partners.
- 2021
Developer portal and management API launch. SOC 2 Type II attestation completed.
- 2023
Fleet grows to 31 edge locations. Hybrid deployment model released for regulated customers.
- 2025
ISO 27001 certification. 48 billion monthly API calls routed. 140 people across London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

Work with a team that runs what it sells
Every APIFlow engineer carries a pager for the platform. When you call, that accountability is on the other end of the line.
